Several years ago, I started my collection and love for Kate Spade New York’s handbags thanks to my good friend Camila M. who had an exceptional taste for designer handbags and accessories. Known for having some of the most colorful, unique shaped and refreshing graphic prints pieces, Kate Spade brings a sense of playful elegance and yet classic pieces that will never go out of style. She also have some of the most iconic accessories pieces that usually sells out instantly. From a cute mouse to a fun “hop to it” rabbit backpack..
Back then, I wasn’t really into handbags as much as I was into cosmetics and focusing on my makeup artist career (side job). I also couldn’t bring myself to spending hundreds of dollars on one item, knowing that I had bills and a school loan to pay. So, I patiently waited for the perfect moment to purchased one.
I remembered the first time I entered a Kate Spade store was at the Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall, located in Sunrise Florida. It was like walking into a candy store and not knowing what to do or where to start. The colors, the prints, and the graphics, oh my! The handbags were absolutely stunning! I bet you’re wondering why I choose an outlet mall verse the flagship store? Two reasons. One, I was able to save some money and second, the handbags were still designer pieces.
Being a makeup artist and often wearing black, my first purchase, of course, was the black Kate Spade Rachelle Wellesley shoulder handbag (image on the right). The bag has a gorgeous top handle with a beautiful, classic shape. It’s lined with pink polka dots imprints and has one zipper pocket with two open pockets on the inside. The bag also came with an adjustable strap so that you may carry it as a cross-body. Oh! And by the way, I used it as a diaper bag as well. #MommyLife
Kate Space New York has become my BFF for designer handbags, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Big thanks to Camila M. who would stroll into the office showing off one of her latest designer bags. I’ve managed to collect six handbags from fuchsia to mint green, and my most recent purchase was the “Small Caley Grove Street Rioja” satchel bag which is in a vibrant deep plum color.
So what’s next for Mrs. Kate and I? We’ll see! I might just add one of her animal-shaped bags to my collections.
I’d love to hear what handbag designer you’re obsessed with.
